Ten years ago, MSP Medical began as a side project of its predecessor, Eco-Systems. Today, it has grown into a well-established name in the world of medical spare parts and equipment. To celebrate our 10-year anniversary, we sat down with Mike to look back at the milestones and changes over the years and to look ahead to the future.
What has been the biggest change over the past ten years?
“The biggest change is that we started as a side activity from Eco-Systems, the predecessor of MSP. Within a few years, MSP became the core business of our organization. In 2019, we made a major shift: Eco-Systems became MSP Production, and we continued as the MSP Group. The market clearly needed a specialized supplier of medical spare parts. We quickly saw we had struck a chord. Spare parts became increasingly important. We recognized the potential and decided to fully commit to it.”
Did you expect to be where you are today, ten years ago?
What are you most proud of?
“That we've managed to position ourselves, as a relatively small player, among the large international OEMs and that we’re no one-hit wonder. We’re here, and we’re here to stay.” For Mike, the proof of their legitimacy lies in the quality of their products: “Our quality is our best business card.”
What advice would you give yourself ten years ago?
Mike laughs: “Maybe we should’ve expanded our portfolio more aggressively. At times, we were a bit too cautious, but those were the best decisions we could make at the time. It kept things manageable, though we might have grown even faster.” Still, he remains realistic: “It’s always a trade-off. You want to move fast but also stay in control and we’re proud to have grown completely bootstrapped.”
Looking ahead with Mike
“In ten years, we’ve built a strong reputation. That’s the foundation for the future. We're increasingly partnering with OEMs, and that strategy is really starting to pay off. My recent trip to Ireland confirmed there are still many opportunities out there. There’s a huge demand for reliable parts supply. Clients are happy we come to them. We listen, we think along, and we genuinely try to solve problems. Over the past decade, we’ve built a reputation as a reliable partner. That’s the foundation we’ll build on for the next ten years.”
