At MSP Medical, we are constantly improving our products and making users' experience as comfortable as possible. That's why we recently updated the footrests of the NOA shower chair. In this blog, we tell you more about the changes and what this means for users of the NOA shower chair.
Why updated footrests?
The impetus for the update came from our own team, which focuses on improving the overall experience for users of the NOA shower chair. The shower chair was already praised for its ease of use and comfort, but we saw room for improvement, especially in the parts that make direct contact with the body. The backrest, armrests and seat area were already made of high-quality PU foam, which provides a soft and comfortable feel and quickly assumes body temperature. However, the footrests were still made of hard ABS plastic, which felt cold and less comfortable.
The updated design for more comfort and ergonomics
The new footrests are now made of the same softer polyurethane (PU) foam as the other contact parts of the chair. PU foam has several advantages, including the fact that it quickly assumes body temperature, so it does not feel cold, even when in direct contact with the skin. This makes the experience significantly more comfortable for the user, especially in situations where the shower chair is used for an extended period of time.
We also changed the shape of the footrests. Whereas the old version was a flat plate with ridges for grip, the new footrests are ergonomically shaped. This provides better support for the feet, contributing to overall comfort while using the chair.
Benefits of the new PU foam
Polyurethane foam is not only more comfortable, but it is also a durable choice. The foam is injected under high pressure into a mold, where it expands and takes its shape. After this process, it receives a special coating, which makes the footrests water-repellent and resistant to wear and tear. This makes the footrests not only comfortable, but also longer usable.
An added benefit is that the use of PU foam means that no additional cushions or other accessories are needed to provide comfort. This makes the product less prone to wear and tear and loss of parts such as the cushions, reducing the overall cost of the chair over its lifetime.
