Is choosing alternative spare parts a sustainable option?

We consider sustainability on several levels. We not only look at the material we use, but we focus mainly on the lifespan of the products. We look for the most suitable material for that. We also include sustainability in the design of the products. So choosing alternative spare parts is definitely a sustainable option. We explain how we extend the lifespan of our products.

Sustainable hand controls

A great example of sustainable products are our hand controls. These are deliberately made of soft material. If they fall on the ground, they are less likely to break or be damaged. Hand controls made of hard material are more likely to break or crack. According to safety guidelines, this product is then rejected. This is because there is a risk of infection, as bacteria can accumulate inside. The hand control must then be replaced. Our soft material hand controls are therefore a safer and more durable choice.

Working chairs and shower chairs

Our working chairs are upholstered in stamskin (artificial leather), a very wear-resistant material. During the life cycle of the working chair, this upholstery does not need to be replaced, it can last for years without any visible wear and tear. We are also working on making the plastic wheels of the working chairs completely modular. For example, if the side cover of the wheels is broken, you can replace only that part and the life of the wheel will be extended.

In addition, our shower chair Noa is made of stainless steel. For example, the frame is made of stainless steel and the wheels are made with stainless steel bearings. So rusting cannot be a problem, which means the product lasts longer.

Stitched labels on slings

On our slings, the information label is fully stitched onto the sling. The label contains important information, such as: the maximum user weight, manufacturer's information, serial number, type of sling, washing instructions, etc. The slings are washed out regularly, so the information on printed labels, unlike our stitched labels, fades quickly. As our labels are stitched, the information cannot fade. According to safety guidelines, the sling must be replaced when the label is no longer readable. Due to the stitched label, our lifting slings last longer and are therefore a sustainable choice.

We consider the durability of our products and alternative spare parts in several areas. Besides the materials we carefully select, we look at the bigger picture in the design of our products to extend their lifespan.
