Moving people safely and effectively with MSP lifting slings

In the healthcare sector, safely moving users who cannot bear their own weight independently is a daily necessity. Lifting slings play an important role here. These medical products are indispensable in hospitals, nursing homes and other care facilities. They support caregivers in moving patients who have become bedridden due to illness, disability or age, for example.

Wide range of lifting slings

We offer a wide range of lifting slings, including both active and passive models, depending on the mobility and specific needs of the user.

  • Active lifting slings
Active slings are ideal for users who still have some mobility and need support while standing or sitting.
  • Passive lifting slings
For users with limited or no mobility, our passive lifting slings are the ideal solution, as they provide full support during transfer.
  • Disposable lifting slings
In addition, MSP Medical offers the single-use option with our disposable lifting slings, perfect for situations where hygiene is a priority or a quick solution is required. This option reduces the risk of cross-contamination between different caregivers.
  • Tailored Perfection
Our product line includes not only our own MSP brand lifting slings, but also lifting slings from the leading brand Tailored Perfection, known for their high quality and durability, combined with a competitive price point.

What should you look for when choosing a lifting sling?

It is important to choose the right lifting sling that fits the needs of both the caregiver and the user. Therefore, consider the following points when choosing a lifting sling:

  • The mobility of the caregiver
Choose an active lifting sling for users with reasonable mobility and a passive sling for users with limited mobility. How much strength does the client still have? When there is little strength left, a passive lifting sling is the best choice. In practice, we see that active lifting slings are still being used for a long time, while the client is no longer able to manage. Therefore, keep a close eye on the client's mobility when using lifting slings.
  • The type of elevator
When selecting the right lifting sling, it is important to consider the type of patient elevator the sling will be attached to. Make sure the lifting sling is compatible with the patient elevator used in your healthcare facility.
  • Attachment method
In addition, pay attention to the method of attachment to the patient elevator that suits the specific care need. The method of attachment to the elevator should be safe and appropriate for the specific transfers.

How do you maintain lifting slings for longer life and optimal hygiene?

Maintain lifting slings by following the washing instructions on the label, such as: do not wash too hot, do not dry and do not use an iron. For industrial washing machines, make sure nothing has broken off in previous washing, which can result in damage to the lifting sling. Annual inspection by service and maintenance companies allows early detection of when a lifting sling can still be repaired. This extends the lifespan of the lifting sling.

What are the safety protocols that should be followed when using lifting slings?

The lifting slings should always be applied correctly. Always check that the lifting sling is properly attached by checking the green indicator boxes on the clips before moving the patient. Check the areas where the lifting sling is attached to make sure it is secure by pulling hard. This will prevent someone from sliding off resulting in possible injury.

At MSP Medical, we strive to make care easier, safer and more efficient for both caregivers and users. For more information on our range of lifting slings, visit our website or contact us directly.
